Episode 15

1919 : Klaus et Elijah fêtent avec une reine louve et la prospérité de la Nouvelle-Orléans et la paix entres les loups vampires, et sorciers. La femme flirte avec Klaus et s’en va, les frères se félicitent de leur vie actuelle.

Aujourd’hui : Elijah a fait venir Cami au manoir en espérant qu’elle puisse calmer la colère de Klaus contre lui et sa sœur. Il croit que Cami est la seule personne que Klaus voudra voir, et lui demande de rester à ses côtés, et de le nourrir de son sang, car il contient de la verveine. Il retire la lame maudite de Klaus, celui-ci est affaiblit mais parvient à dire à Elijah qu’il le fera payer.

Hayley a kidnappé Céleste. Au bayou, celle-ci se retrouve attachée à un arbre, entourée d’Hayley, d’Eve et de plusieurs loups menaçants. Hayley est armée, elle veut pousser Céleste à accepter de délivrer les loups de son clan de leur malédiction. Celle-ci prétend n’avoir rien contre elle

Au manoir, Klaus récupère doucement, tandis que Cami lui tend son poignet pour qu’il boive son sang. Ils commencent à parler, elle essaie de comprendre pourquoi il hait tant sa sœur au point de vouloir la poursuivre et la tuer, il lui répond qu’elle lui a brisé le cœur. Klaus se lève et s’habille au manoir tout en confiant à Cami qu’il a baissé sa garde en voulant donné du bonheur à sa sœur, alors qu’elle l’avait déjà trahi et fait venir son père en ville.

1919 : on retrouve Elijah et Klaus au club de jazz, ce dernier observe Rebekah et Marcel faire semblant de se détester. Il explique à son frère que ces deux-là jouent la comédie, en réalité ils entretiennent toujours une liaison. Il décide d’intervenir et de porter un toast alors que son frère tente de le retenir. Finalement, il leurs souhaite d’être heureux ensemble, à leur grande stupéfaction. Klaus rejoint Bekah, et prétend que toutes ces années, il a contrarié ses amours pour éviter qu’elle ait le cœur brisé s’ils devaient à nouveau partir. Il estime que maintenant ils n’ont plus à fuir, qu’ils ont leur maison. Il embrasse sa sœur sur la joue. Marcel sort du club, sans se rendre compte que Mikael commence à le suivre.

Cami explique que d’après Elijah, Marcel et Rebekah ont fui, ils peuvent être n’importe où. Klaus est persuadé qu’ils vont revenir en ville pour tuer les sorcières qui ont volé le pouvoir de la moisson, afin de ressusciter Davina, qu’elle puisse partir avec eux et leurs faire un sort de dissimulation, de façon que Klaus ne puisse jamais les retrouver. Au même moment Rebekah et Marcel en voiture sont arrêtés à un stop, et décident de faire demi-tour et de revenir en ville dans ce but.

Monique est au cimetière, en train de méditer, quand Elijah surgit, il veut qu’elle l’aide à retrouver Sabine, persuadé que celle-ci est responsable de la disparition d’Hayley. Monique défend Sabine, et son dévouement pour les sorcières, Elijah lui répond que son seul but est la destruction de la famille Mikaelson, et qu’elle finira par sauter dans un autre corps en laissant les sorcières sans pouvoirs. Il lui confie une page du livre d’Esther, un sort qui préviendra toute tentative de Céleste d’abandonner le corps de Sabine pour un autre, puis l’implore à nouveau de localiser Sabine.

Marcel et Rebekah ont retrouvé Thierry, et tentent de le convaincre de rejoindre leur cause. Ils pensent qu’ils n’auront qu’une seule chance contre elles, mais Marcel est confiant, il a tenu la tête aux pires selon lui.

Flash-back de 1919 : Marcel et Rebekah ont une petite discussion sur le fait que six mois se sont écoulés depuis que Geneviève a lancé le sort, ils sont soulagés et pensent que celui-ci a échoué, sans se douter que Mikael les observe. Rebekah s’en va. Mikael finit par se présenter à Marcel, et le contraint de l’écouter. Il a pris le temps de l’observer, et sait que Marcel l’a contacté pour protéger son histoire d’amour avec Rebekah. Il prévient qu’il a brûlé des villes entières pour retrouver Klaus, mais lui promet de laisser Bekah, Marcel, ainsi que la ville saufs, s’il lui indique où trouver son fils.

Cami tente de retenir Klaus qui veut se lever et boire du sang frais. Il s’amuse de son attitude et la fait entrer dans son esprit pour lui montrer un souvenir avec la louve. Elijah les avait surpris au lit, elle les avait tous inviter à aller voir une pièce d’opéra le soir-même. Cami se moque de Klaus et de son intérêt pour l’opéra, mais elle comprend que c’est un souvenir douloureux quand il en parle avec amertume.

Sabine tend à Hayley un bocal contenant une mixture d’herbes qui selon elle brisera la malédiction des loups à le prochaine pleine lune. Hayley reste sceptique, mais Sabine prétend qu’elle n’a rien contre elle, au contraire elle se reconnaît en elle, elles ont en commun une histoire avec Elijah. Elle veut lui donner le moyen de se libérer des originaux. Elijah intervient et est persuadé que c’est un mensonge. Hayley veut garder Sabine en otage jusqu’à la prochaine pleine lune, et demande à Elijah de les aider ou de s’en aller. Il prend le pot des mains d’Hayley, et Sabine, et part en super vitesse.

Plus loin Elijah confronte Sabine au sujet des herbes. Elle lui assure que ce n’est pas un piège. Elle est satisfaite, car qu’elle que soit la décision d’Elijah, il sera perdant. Soit il supprime le remède, et devra affronter le ressentiment d’Hayley envers lui, soit il le lui donne, avec le risque qu’elle décide de rejoindre sa meute.

Thierry attire Bastiana et Geneviève dans un piège, il prétend vouloir leurs livrer marcel et Rebekah, mais les attaque. Les sorcières prennent le dessus, le couple intervient, Marcel tue Bastiana, mais Geneviève parvient à s’en tirer. Rebekah pensent qu’ils ont échoué et veut partir aussitôt, mais Marcel refuse d’abandonner Davina.

Klaus évoque l’attitude d’Elijah à Cami quand son père est revenu en ville. On voit Elijah se faire surprendre par Mikael alors qu’il compte partir à l’opéra. Ce dernier lui demande de se joindre à lui pour tuer « le bâtard ». Elijah avait alors attaqué Mikael. Le père, furieux de voir qu’il prenait le parti de Klaus, l’a menacé avec un pieux en chêne blanc. Mais Elijah avait assuré qu’il choisirait toujours Klaus, Mikael le maîtrisa en le lui enfonçant une barre en bois. Elijah s’était senti coupable de ne pas voir pu arrêter Mikael, mais Klaus ne lui en a jamais voulu pour ça, car Mikael était impitoyable et déterminé à tuer Klaus.

Klaus a des nouvelles, Marcel et Rebekah ont été aperçus en ville. Il casse une sculpture, et en sort un pieu en chêne blanc sous la stupéfaction de Cami, puis part en super vitesse. Un peu plus loin dans la rue, Klaus est en train de mordre un passant, Cami le rattrape et lui demande ce qu’il fait. Il lui répond qu’il a besoin de sang sans verveine pour tuer sa sœur, elle tente de le raisonner, elle-même voulait le tuer quand elle a découvert la vérité sur son sujet, mais elle ne l’a pas fait, elle a préféré voir le bien en lui plutôt que de retenir les choses horribles qu’il avait faites. Elle assure que si Klaus blesse sa sœur, il finira par le regretter. Elle le conjure de ne pas devenir comme son père, à terroriser comme il a été terrorisé. Klaus est blessé qu’elle l compare à Mikael, et lui demande de la suivre.

Elijah revient avec Sabine auprès d’Hayley, il confie à cette dernière le remède intacte, elle est soulagée. Elle lui confie qu’elle va réunir les loups avec Eve en attendant la pleine lune, puis le prend dans ses bras. Il l’embrasse sur le front, elle s’en va. Céleste se moque de la pudeur d’Elijah. Il est consterné par sa cruauté, veut comprendre son but, elle lui avoue qu’elle veut lui faire perdre à la fois la fille et sa famille. Elle lui apprend que pendant qu’il était avec Hayley, Rebekah est revenue en ville, et Klaus est au courant. Elijah, en colère, la mord.

Klaus amène Cami devant l’opéra, et lui explique ce qu’il s’est passé cette nuit de 1919. Son père a surgit derrière son dos avec le pieux, alors que Bekah venait de sortir de leur loge. Mikael rappelle à Klaus qu’il est un bâtard, il ne le considère pas comme son fils, et le hait pour ce qu’il est, une bête. Il s’étonne de la popularité qu’a acquise Klaus à la Nouvelle-Orléans. Il compter rester en ville après l’avoir tuer pour défaire cette réputation, en tuant les gens qui le respecte, afin de faire oublier son nom. Le spectacle commence, mais Mikael prévient avoir procéder quelques changements. Le rideau, et tout le monde applaudit en découvrant Marcel attaché les poignets en sang, et la louve empalée sur un morceau de bois. Mikael a contraint les spectateurs à rire devant le spectacle et resté assis. Klaus tenta de sauver Marcel, mais Mikael l’en a empêché en essayant de le tuer avec le pieu. Rebekah et Elijah sont intervenus, alors que Mikael torturait Marcel, ils ont tous les trois pris la fuite. Mikael est parti en brûlant l’opéra avec tous le public à l’intérieur. Klaus explique à Cami que ce jour-là, même s’il a survécu, il a perdu sa part d’humanité. Il promet à Cami d’en finir vite avec Rebekah et Marcel, et de ne pas les torturer comme son père a pu le faire pour lui, et s’en va en super vitesse avant qu’elle n’ait pu réagir.

Il fait nuit. Elijah a emmené Sabine au cimetière. Elle se réveille, et est ravie car il est tombé dans son piège. Elle ne craint pas ses menaces, car elle pourra toujours sauter dans un autre corps d’après elle. Ça la fait sourire car à cause de ça, elle pense qu’Elijah ne pourra plus faire confiance à une femme sans se demander si c’est elle. Elle recule suffisamment pour sortir du cimetière, Elijah tente de la rattraper, mais il est coincé. Sabine avoue qu’elle a posé un sort sur le lieu, pour que les originels puissent y entrer mais non en sortir avant la prochaine pleine lune.

Marcel et Rebekah sont également au cimetière pour récupérer la dépouille de Davina. Rebekah comprend à son tour qu’elle est piégée, alors que Marcel sort le corps de Davaina dans ses bras. Elle conjure Marcel de fuir et promet de le rejoindre plus tard.

Céleste fait toujours face à Elijah, et se suicide sous ses yeux pour sauter dans un autre corps. Monique arrive et observe le corps sans vie de Sabine, elle dit à Elijah qu’il avait raison, et lui fait comprendre qu’elle a effectué le sort qu’il souhaitait, en montrant le caveau du doigt. Céleste se réveille avec stupéfaction dans son propre corps. Elijah la rejoint et se félicite qu’elle ait perdu la confiance des autres sorcières, obnubilée par sa vengeance. Elle le supplie de l’épargner, il la tue. Au même moment Davina, que Marcel a ramené au grenier, se réveille. Elle est apeurée, il tente de la rassurer.

Klaus arrive au cimetière le pieu en chêne blanc en main, et hurle pour prévenir à Bekah sa présence. Flashbacks, Mikael fait de même en 1919 dans les rues de la Nola, il cherche ses enfants. Ils l’entendent. Klaus soigne sa sœur, tandis qu’Elijah fait le guet. Rebekah regarde l’opéra en feu, Elijah estime que c’est fini, et demande à son frère et sa sœur de partir, il retiendra Mikael et promet de les rejoindre plus tard. Rebekah est effondrée, dit que tout est de sa faute, Klaus répond que c’est le la sienne, et est désolé de s’être trompé sur le fait que la Nola pourrait être leur maison. Elijah leurs ordonnent de partir, Klaus prend sa sœur en super vitesse. Retour au cimetière, Elijah est sous le choc lorsqu’il y voit Rebekah. Klaus arrive à cet instant et demande à Elijah de s’écarter de sa sœur. Chacun d’entre eux a le visage qui se transforme.

[ CLUB DE JAZZ ]

(FLASHBACK - 1919)

(Une soirée dansante se déroule au club de Jazz. Le groupe de musicien commence à jouer leur morceau et le chanteur du groupe entame les premières notes de la chanson. Les lieux sont bondés d'invités. Les conviés dansent, chantent, rient et boivent. Au bar, Klaus, Elijah et une jeune femme se observent la piste de danse)

Klaus : Alors là, c'est une première. Loups-garous, vampires, sorcières et flics corrompus rassemblés.

(Il regarde un groupe de policier lever leurs verres et boire)

Klaus : Tous saouls comme des barriques et heureux comme des rois.

(Klaus sourit lorsque Elijah ordonne aux deux autres de lever leur verres)

Lana : Cette ville est fantastique.

Elijah : À une nouvelle ère de collaboration contre la prohibition.

Lana : À vos docks, vos bouteilles et à nos théâtres où on les caches. Ce fut un plaisir.

(Ils trinquent joyeusement leurs verres ensemble et boivent)

Klaus, souriant : Il me reste à trouver le moyen de t'exprimer ma gratitude. Te rendre un hommage digne de la plus belle reine des loups-garous.

Lana, caressant affectueusement le visage de Klaus : On se retrouve sur la piste de danse.

(Elle passe devant lui en direction de la foule)

Elijah : Qui aurait pu l'imaginer ? L'unification de la Nouvelle-Orléans ?

(Klaus, ludique, saisit les épaules d'Elijah)

Klaus : On a réussi, mon frère.

Elijah : Il est vrai que nous y avons travaillé de concert.

(Elijah pose son bras autour de l'épaule de son frère et lui tourbillonne autour d'oublier la scène devant lui)

Elijah : Mais tout ça, c'est ton œuvre.

 

[ L'ABATTOIR ]

(AUJOURD'HUI)

(Klaus est allongé sur son lit. Ses yeux sont fermés, et souffre de la lame de Papa Tunde, qui est une fois encore enfoncé dans sa poitrine. Elijah lui montre, clairement qu'il est en conflit)

Elijah, à Klaus : C'est ton œuvre.

(Camille se précipite dans le bâtiment. Les vampires l'observent, confondu par sa présence. Quand Elijah entend son arrivée, il la rejoint pour la saluer)

Elijah : Camille !

(Il lui fait signe de le rejoindre à l'étage)

Elijah : Par ici.

Camille : Pourquoi m'avez-vous appelée ? Vous pouvez aider mon oncle ?

Elijah : Je vais essayé. Mais j'ai d'abord besoin de vous.

Camille : Ce n'est vraiment pas le moment de jouer à ça. Le sortilège est de plus en plus puissant.

Elijah : Mon frère a un instrument de torture mystique plongé dans le thorax, et la mère de son enfant a mystérieusement disparu. Alors, je vous assure que moi non plus je n'ai pas le moindre temps à perdre.

Camille, sérieuse : En quoi puis-je vous être utile ?

 

(Ils entrent dans la chambre de Klaus)

Camille : Le poignard que la sorcière m'a donné est à l'intérieur de sa poitrine ?

(Elijah enlève sa veste et retrousse sa manche)

Elijah : Et chaque secondes supplémentaires lui procurent des souffrances indicibles.

Camille : Vous connaissez le coupable ?

Elijah : Euh, oui, c'est moi. Je vous suggère de vous éloignée, je vais extraire la lame.

Camille, choquée et confuse : Alors ? Pourquoi m'avez-vous appelée ?

Elijah : De toutes les personnes qui l'entoure, vous êtes probablement la seule qu'il n'aura pas envie de trucider.

(Il utilise un scalpel pour ouvrir la poitrine de Klaus, puis utilise son poing dans la plaie ouverte afin de saisir la lame enfoui dans le corps de son frère)

Elijah : Sans compter qu'il parle de vous avec infiniment de respect, ce qui n'est pas dans ses habitudes. Vous l'incitez à se voir tel qu'il est, et à voir les autres sous un nouveau jour.

(Il retire l'arme de la poitrine de Klaus, qui gémit)

Klaus, agonisant : AGH!

Elijah : Ce talent inestimable va bientôt m'être très utile. Voyez-vous, il va être très affaibli lors de sa convalescence. Vous allez le surveiller et lui donner à boire. Mais procédez lentement et ne lui donnez que votre poignet.

Camille : Attendez ! Vous n'avez pas de poches de sang en réserve ?

Elijah : Le vôtre est assaisonné de veine de venus. Il l’ingérera plus lentement à cause des brûlures. Vous en profiterez pour le convaincre de ne pas massacrer sa petite sœur.

(Il se tourne vers Klaus)

Elijah : Klaus, te faire souffrir n'a jamais été mon intention, mais je refuse que tu t'en prennes à Rebekah.

(Il se retourne vers Camille)

Elijah : Je crains fort que Sabine ne prépare l'assaut final contre nous. Je vais aller la retrouver et nous en débarrasser.

Klaus, murmurant faiblement : Elijah. Tu vas payer pour ce que tu as fais.

[Jazz Club, 1919 At the bar Elijah, Lana, and Klaus observe the club]

Klaus: Well this is a first. Werewolves, vampires, witches and dirty cops. All happy as clams and drunk as stoats.

Lana: You gotta love this city.

Elijah: To a new era! Collaboration in the face of Prohibition.

Lana: To your docks, their booze, and our theatres to hide it under. You're welcome, boys.

Klaus: Now, I shall have to think of a way to thank you personally, in a manner befitting a werewolf queen.

Lana: Catch you on the dance floor.

Elijah: Who would have thought it possible... The unification of New Orleans?

Klaus: We did it, brother.

Elijah: Oh, certainly, we worked together, Niklaus. But this vision?... This was all you.

 

Present

Klaus' Bedroom (Klaus lies in , Elijah watch him)

Elijah: (to Klaus) This was all you.

(Cami appears at the abbatoir)
Elijah: Camille! Please...

Cami: Why did you call me? Have you found a way to help my uncle?

Elijah: I can try, but first, I need your help.

Cami: I don't have time for games, Elijah. The hex on him is getting worse by the day.

Elijah: My brother has a mystical torture device buried in his chest, and the mother of his child is inexplicably missing. So, I can assure you, I have no time to play any games, either.

Cami: What do you need me to do?

(they are in Klaus' bedroom)

Cami: The dagger the witch gave me is inside of him...

Elijah: And every second it remains causes Niklaus untold suffering.

Cami: Who stabbed him?

Elijah: I did it ... And now I intend to remove it. You might want to take a step back.

Cami: Why am I here?

Elijah: Because of all the people that could be here, you're probably the only one he wouldn't immediately slaughter. (He slice into Klaus's chest) Also, he speaks of you (He put his hand into Klaus' chest) with what is a rare degree, for him, at least, of respect. I can see you challenge him to see himself and others in a new light (He remove the blade out of Klaus' chest, Klaus agonies) A wonderful skill that I shall be counting on very shortly. You see, Niklaus will be weak as he recovers. So, watch over him and feed him, if you would. But slowly, please, and from your wrist.

Cami: Don't you guys have bags of blood in storage?

Elijah: We do, but your blood is laced with vervain. So, it will burn him. He'll ingest it slower. Perhaps you could use the time constructively, persuade him not to murder his baby sister. [to Klaus] Niklaus, It was not my desire to bring you pain, but I will not see you hurt Rebekah. [to Cami] Now, I fear Sabine may be making a final move against us. I intend to find her and to end this.

Klaus: [whispers weakly] Elijah. You will pay for this.

(In the wood, Celeste has her hands tied a tree. Hayley and Eve stand in front of her, with the rest of their clan, in wolf)

Sabine: So what's this, payback? Look. I'm sorry I tricked you. I wasn't after you.

Eve: What, and we were just collateral damage? You almost burned her and Jackson alive in that plantation fire.

[Sabine struggles against the ropes to free herself, Hayley fires the gun]

Hayley: Careful, Sabine, or Celeste or whatever you like to call yourself. Sudden moves make me jumpy. And homicidal.

Sabine: What, you're gonna kill me, honey?

Hayley: No. I know better. See, I know all about you. I know that you like to off yourself and then jump into other people's bodies. Well, that's not gonna happen here. I know I can't kill you, but try hexing me, and my friend Eve here will kneecap you. Go for her, and then, well, I'll really make it hurt.

Sabine: So, what do you want?

Hayley: Back in the 90's, you inhabited a witch named Brynne Deveraux, remember? Marcel had her, you, put a curse on a lot of werewolves so they'd only turn human on a full moon.

Sabine: I see. Yes. That was me.Let me guess. You want revenge.

Hayley: I want you to undo the curse...

 

At the Abbatoir

 

Cami: Wow, things I never thought I'd be doing, feeding a vampire. My 16-year-old self would think I'm really cool right now.

Klaus drink Cami's blood.

Cami: Slow down.

Klaus: Okay.

Cami: Doesn't the vervain burn?

Klaus: As you may have yet to realize, Cami, the line between what brings us pain and what sustains us is far thinner than one imagines.

Cami: You talking about my blood or your need to hunt down the people you love most?

Klaus: I'm too weak for one of your talks right now.

Cami: She's your sister. How can you hate her?

Klaus: Because she has done what no one else has managed to do to me for 1,000 years...Rip my heart out.

 

Flashback

Jazz Club, 1919 [Rebekah & Marcel walk into the club, Elijah & Klaus watch )

Klaus: Look at these two pretending to be apart while so clearly a pair.

Elijah: Niklaus, not now. Why must you cause trouble?

Klaus: I'd like to take this opportunity to draw attention to two people who have been sneaking around behind my back together. As we move into a new era, we require more progressive attitudes to match. So, to my loving sister and my right-hand man and best friend Marcel, may they find joy in each other. Enough talk...Music!

[The band starts again and everyone returns dance, Klaus & Rebekah at the bar]

Klaus: Over the years, I've thwarted your loves simply to protect you. I knew if we had to run again, your heart would be broken, but we don't have to run anymore. We've found a home. Be happy, my sister.

 

Present

 

Klaus: (to Cami) I'd let my guard down and given in to happiness, more fool, I.
[Klaus it's on bed, put a shirt]

Klaus: Turns out, they'd already betrayed me, and brought to town the one thing I'd been running from for centuries...My father.

Cami: Oh.

Klaus: Yes. Oh.

Cami: So, you're consumed by revenge you'll never achieve. Elijah implied Rebekah and Marcel could be anywhere in the world by now.

Klaus: Oh, I'm not so sure about that.

 

Flashback Jazz Club, 1919'

 

Rebekah: Can you believe we're sitting out here in the open bold as brass?

Marcel: No. Ah, it feels like heaven.

Rebekah: You know, it's been over 6 months since Genevieve summoned my father, and nothing. Her spell must have failed.

Marcel: Hey, if so, we dodged a bullet.

[Marcel & Rebekah kiss]

Rebekah: Right. I am off to speak at the Women's Temperance Society meeting to make sure the wives of this city urge their husbands not to drink.

Marcel: Aren't you all in the booze biz now?

Rebekah: Yes, but the more one tells you you can't have something, the more you crave it at all costs.

[They kiss. Marcel laugh. A men watch, it's Mikael.]

 

Present

 

Rebekah: He'll chase us to the ends of the earth, and he'll find us. No one can hide forever, especially not from an angry Mikaelson.

Marcel: Then we go through with the plan. There's only one way that we'll truly be able to hide from Klaus forever.

 

Klaus' Bedroom

Klaus: They'll need a cloaking spell, and for that, they'll need a witch.

 

Marcel's Car

Marcel: Davina is our one shot. If we go back and get her...

Rebekah: It's a suicide mission.

Marcel: It's our only hope. We resurrect her, take her with us, and get out of town. Then, she can hide us from Klaus so he'll never find us.

Rebekah: We don't even know the right witch to kill to bring her back.

Marcel: Then we'll kill them all.

Rebekah: Just kill the three witches that brought the mighty Klaus Mikaelson to his knees, no big deal.

Marcel: Look. Unless you want to spend eternity looking over your shoulder, there's only one thing that we can do.

 

Klaus' Bedroom

Klaus: There's only one place they can go.

 

Marcel's Car [& Marcel back in the city]

 

Klaus's bedroom

Klaus: Home.

 

Cemeterry

Monique: (entendez notre appel, she make a spell)When order is restored, your kind won't be allowed in here.

Elijah: Well, fortunately, that day has not yet come. I need to find Sabine. I believe she's taken someone very important to me.

Monique: And you thought I'd help you? Sabine is one of us, committed to the rise of the witches.

Elijah: The only thing Sabine is committed to is the destruction of my family.

Monique: And that would be a bad thing why?

Elijah: Like your mother, my mother was also a witch, a very powerful witch. In fact, because of my family, her power now flows through your veins. Now, once Sabine manipulates those around her, she will do what she has always done. She will jump into another body and disappear, leaving your witches powerless.

Monique: No. She has the faith. She will see our power restored.

Elijah: There's a way of guaranteeing this. I'll also secure the safety of yourself and your kind. Here. This is from my mother's grimoire. Celeste used a similar spell to body jump. If what Sabine says is true, when she sacrifices herself, all of her power will flow back into the earth. However, if she has lied and tries to take another body, this spell will deliver her to a very different destination. Now, please locate Sabine.

 

[Rebekah and Marcel, in town, meet Thierry]

Rebekah: Papa Tunde is dead. That leaves Sabine, Bastianna, and Genevieve.

Marcel: We want to kill them all, and as soon as Davina rises, we take her with us.

Rebekah: Look. We have one shot at this, and I know our chances of success are sweet bugger all, but we've got to do it. So please, one stray dog to another, help us.

Thierry: Not many go up against those odds and live to tell the story. Have you?

Marcel: I'm still standing here, aren't I? I've gone up against the worst of them all.

 

Flashback

Jazz Club,Bar, 1919 [Mikael is at the bar alone, Marcel approaches

Marcel: I'll take another

Mikael: You're a lucky man. Men search the world over for a woman like her.

Marcel: Well, she's taken, friend.

Mikael: Oh, I can see that. It's just that she reminds me so much of my departed wife as a girl. See, I've been traveling for such a long time that it's a blessing to see a familiar soul so far from home.

Marcel: I'm sorry for your loss. Here's to old faces in new places. [They toast their glasses]

Mikael: I've been in New Orleans for a day, and I find it to be quite surprising. Had I known of its charm and fascinating denizens, I would have come ages ago. Don't suppose I have to thank you for extending this invitation.

Marcel: Who are you?

Mikael: Oh, you're a smart man. I think you know. [He give to him the photo of newspaper Genevieve sends him] I'm an intelligent man myself. [He compel Marcel] So, have a seat. Let me tell you what I learned about you this afternoon, Marcel Gerard. You chafe under the control of my son Niklaus and would do just about anything to get rid if him, even call the one man on this earth who hates him more than you do. But, I couldn't understand what you hoped to gain. Rule of this city? Well, as I said, New Orleans has its charms, but... to call me, the one they call the Destroyer, the one who's burnt cities far more charming to the ground in pursuit of his children... But now I see. You did it for love, the love of my daughter...

Marcel: Don't you dare touch her!

Mikael: Mmm, so I'm going to make you a promise. I won't hurt Rebekah. Truth be told, she was always my favorite. And this city, you can have it, but first, you must tell me where to find my son.

Klaus Bedroom [Klaus get out of bed but he is too weak]

Cami: You're still weak.

Klaus: I'm still hungry. There's a fresh blood supply in the kitchen.

Cami: You won't make it that far. So, be a good little boy and get back into bed.

Klaus: If I had a quid for every time a woman has tried that line on me.

Cami: You'd have, like, no money.

Klaus: I beg to differ. Some women actually find me quite charming.

 

Flashback

Klaus' Bedroom, 1919 [Lana and Klaus are in Klaus, Elijah enters the room]

Elijah: Sleeping with the enemy, I see.

Lana: I'm the ally now, darling.

Elijah: Well, indeed.

Klaus: Oh, and as a gesture of goodwill from our old enemy...[he holds up four tickets] tickets to tonight's opera, "Les huguenots."

Lana: They have a soprano to die for. I'll introduce you if you promise not to eat her.

Elijah: Oh, Lana, a good soprano is never dinner.

Klaus: Tell Rebekah to bring Marcel. Feel free to tell her now, big brother. I have some business. I need to discuss with our new ally.

 

Present Klaus' Bedroom

Cami: Why am I not surprised you like opera?

Klaus: I always had a particular soft spot for Les Huguenots. I like the story. It was a tale of forbidden love, a "Romeo and Juliet" of sorts. On the day they are to marry, family and long-festering hatred intervene. Thousands are massacred. A father even kills his own child in the final act. I can almost appreciate the irony.

 

The Bayou

 

[Sabine mix together some herbs into a jar]

Sabine: Here. It's herbs ground into paste. It'll act as a conduit for the spell. On the next full moon, your people become human. Feed it to them, the curse will be broken.

Hayley: Great way to poison us all at once.

Sabine: Look. I know you have no reason to trust me, but, Hayley, I actually like you. I was you, caring for Elijah when he cared more for his brother, and I ended up dead. So did a lot of others. This, call it a chance for me to give you what I was too in love to give myself. It's a chance to free yourself from The Originals.

Eve: You believe her?

[Elijah appears in the bayou]

Elijah: Whatever she's promised you, it's a lie.

Hayley: Elijah, it's okay. I'm okay.

Elijah: She cannot be trusted.

Hayley: She's the only one that can help my pack.

Elijah: Do you have any idea what she has done to our family?

Hayley: I know you want revenge, and come the next full moon, when I'm sure her cure works, she's all yours.

Elijah: Are you suggesting that we hold her, her, captive for an entire month? It would take an army.

Hayley: And I've got one. So help me or get out of my way.

[Elijah with vampire speed takes Sabine and the jar from Hayley and go]

 

In the wood

Elijah: You tricked her.

Sabine: It's no trick. You're holding the cure for Hayley's clan in your hand. If her wolves take that elixir, the curse is no more. They're free.

Elijah: You condemned her people to decades of agony, and now you just break the curse without so much as a whimper. Why?

Sabine: Because it's the best thing I could do for her and it's the worst possible thing I could do to you.

Elijah: What are you saying?

Sabine: That, no matter what happens now, you've lost her. You destroy that jar, you kill me, Hayley will hate you for snatching her family from her. Now, if you give her the jar, we both know that she'll leave you in the end to be with them, and I know that as long as she's alive and happy and fulfilled in ways that you can't even imagine, then I get my revenge. So, you decide. Give her everything she ever wanted and lose her or deny it, see what happens then.

 

At the Docks [Thierry is with Bastianna & Genevieve]

Thierry: Where's the third one, Sabine? I asked to meet with all three of you.

Genevieve: Our meeting you at all is a courtesy for your being a friend to witches in the past, but courtesy has its limits. Now, you said you had information of interest to us.

Thierry: Rebekah and Marcel are back. They came for Davina, and they think that they can get her if they kill all three of you. Now look. I can lead you straight to them, but there's something I want in return.

Bastianna: And what's that?

Thierry: Your life.

[He baring his teeth, the witches uses magic against him, he falls to the ground, unconscious. Marcel comes into the room and slams Bastiana's head against the table. Rebekah follows him, and throws Genevieve against the wall. Marcel kill Bastiana but as Rebekah attempts to kill Genevieve she gives her an aneurysm. Rebekah grabs scream in pain. Marcel try to attack Genevieve, but she stops him with a spell, Marcel's jacket is on fire]

Genevieve: Follow me, and I'll turn you both into ash.

[She leaves. Rebekah try to follow but Marcel stops her]

Marcel: Forget her. We'll get her later.

Rebekah: Marcel, all we have is the element of surprise, and we have lost it. If we don't leave now, there will be no one to save us.

Marcel: I already failed Davina once. I'm not leaving her behind.

 

Living Room of the Abbatoir

[Klaus is pouring himself a drink]

Cami: Not sure that helps.

Klaus: Not sure it doesn't.

Cami: You want to self-medicate your self-pity, fine. Better scotch than my blood, no matter what Elijah says.

Klaus: Don't speak to me of Elijah.

Cami: He loves you.

Klaus: Yes. He does, and he proves it time and again, even when my father enlisted him to kill me.

 

Flashback

Elijah's Room, 1919

[Elijah is getting ready for the opera, he turn and see Mikael]

Mikael: "Les huguenots." Saw it in Venice, marvelous production.

Elijah: You...

Mikael: It's all right, son. I just want to talk.

Elijah: You mercilessly hunt us for centuries. You laid waste to half of Europe. Now you simply wish to talk?

Mikael: It was your bastard brother I hunted, not you, never you. You're my blood, one that I'd be proud to call son. So I came here to give you a chance to help me put down that whelp for good.

[Elijah attacks his father in rage slamming him against the wall. Mikael throws Elijah across the room he slams into the opposite wall]

Elijah: Do you really not know me? Do you think I could or would believe in anything that you say? If you honestly believe that I would betray my own brother... For you, you're a fool without equal.

Mikael: I'll forgive you your sentimental affections for the thing you call brother, but you need to realize, as I did... When I learned his mother had lain with a beast to beget him... Niklaus is an abomination. You do not talk to abominations. You do not reason with them or try to change them. You erase them. So, yes, I am asking you to help me kill your brother.

 

Present. Living Room of the Abbatoir

Cami: You keep saying kill, but you're immortal. You can't be killed.

Klaus: Oh, but we can, love, and my father was the only one with the means to do it. A white oak stake fashioned by my father to take from us the very thing he forced upon us all, our immortality.

 

Flashback, Elijah's Room, 1919

[Mikael takes out the White Oak Stake; Elijah attacks his father again. Mikael slams Elijah]

Mikael: Stand with me or fall with him. Choose, son.

Elijah: I will ALWAYS...Choose him!

Mikael: Fine. [Mikael takes a wooden splinter and stabs Elijah]

 

Present, Living Room of the Abbatoir.

 

Klaus: Elijah has always carried guilt for that night for not stopping our father. I told him not to blame himself. When your father wants to kill you, he wants to kill you, nothing you can do about it. [Klaus phone ring, he checks it] Oh, I hate to be a know-it-all. My sister and her lover have been spotted in town. So story time endeth here, I'm afraid.

[He walks over to a statue on the table and knocks it over. The statue breaks on the floor, revealing the indestructible white oak stake inside]

Cami: What is that?

Klaus: A White Oak Stake, my own special version. And, unlike my father's, this one cannot be destroyed. [He speeds out of the room]

 

New Orleans Street [Cami in into the street and find Klaus, he's feeding on a man]

Cami: What are you doing?

Klaus: Well, if you have to ask, you obviously haven't been paying attention. I'm going to kill my sister, but first, I needed some sustenance with a little less vervain in it, no offense.

Cami: When Davina showed me all you did to me, all you took from me, I wanted to kill you. I even thought about burying that blade in you like the witches asked me to, but I didn't. I stopped. I thought. I weighed the good I see in you versus the horrible things I know you've done, and I realized if I hurt you, I'd be filled with a terrible regret. You will, too, if you hurt your sister, your sister, Klaus. As a person who has lost a sibling, who has felt that pain, you won't survive if you're the one who kills her.

Klaus: I'll tell you what I almost didn't survive, love...My sister bringing the most vile creature ever to have walked the earth down upon me.

Cami: Yes, your father, but by hunting Rebekah and Marcel down to the ends of the earth, by terrorizing them the way you yourself were terrorized. Don't become your father.

Klaus: I've been called every shade of monster, but that's new. My father? Mikael was the monster monsters were afraid of. Come. Let me show you.

 

The Bayou

[Elijah and Sabine return to the Bayou]

Hayley: You came back.

Elijah: I'll always come back. Take it. It will work.

Hayley: Eve and I will round up as many of our people as we can. Come full moon, I can finally free my family.

Elijah: Hayley, I wonder if they have any idea how lucky they are to have you.

Sabine: That was touching, such a chaste, little kiss. The Elijah I knew was never so meek.

Elijah: Well, the Celeste I knew was never so cruel. What is it that you want? What's your end game?

Sabine: Oh, this game never ends, Elijah. We're both immortal, you know.

Elijah: Then what's the point if you can't possibly win?

Sabine: But, I have. You just lost the girl, the girl you never made a move on because you were so desperate to save your family. And now, your family lies in ruins.

Elijah: My family, despite all that you have done, will heal in time.

Sabine: If you had the time, maybe, but you really think Rebekah ran far and fast from here? I bet she didn't.

Elijah: She's long gone.

Sabine: Is she? She's with Marcel. Now, Marcel loves Davina. Davina is dead, but she could come back under the right circumstances.

Elijah: They wouldn't dare.

Sabine: If you hadn't been so worried about Hayley, you might have figured it out sooner, but you know who did have the time to think about it? Your brother. I wonder what he'll do.

[Elijah grabs Sabine and vamps out]

Sabine: Do it. [Elijah bites into her neck]

 

Main Street, Old Opera

 

Klaus: [to Cami] You know your city's history. That night in 1919, when the opera house burned down on this very spot? That was my father at his worst.

 

Flashback – Opera House, 1919'

Klaus: Well, this is off to a bad start. Your first big date together in public after I gave you my blessing, and he stood you up.

Rebekah: Something must have delayed him.

Klaus: Or, now that your elicit affair is out in the open, he finds the whole relationship a tad lackluster and has run off to Havana with a showgirl.

Rebekah: Don't be such a toerag. I'm going to check the lobby.

Klaus: See if you can't find our brother while you're there. The curtain is about to go up.

[Rebekah leaves. Someone enter in the box and sits down behind him. It's Mikael. He pokes his white oak stake against Klaus' back]

Mikael: I would advise against trying to flee, boy. I can drive this into your heart before you can even think of getting to your feet, and I don't want you to die yet.

Klaus: Father...

Mikael: "Father"? Still clinging to that word after all these years, a bastard desperate for a daddy? I wonder if your real father would be as embarrassed as I was of you before I discovered you were not mine. Most likely. [Angry, Klaus try to go] Oh, oh. Easy now, boy. Don't worry. Death will come, but we need to have a little chat, before you shuffle off your immortal coil.

Klaus: Any words we have for each other have been spoken long ago, but know this. I am no longer the animal begging for scraps of your affection. I will die knowing my hatred for you was just. I will fall proud of all I have achieved here. So, Mikael, if you're going to kill me, then get on with it...

Mikael: Au contraire, Niklaus. Some things remain unsaid. For instance, you were right to be proud of your achievement here. As I walked the streets, your name was spoken of in reverent tones by the city's finest. So, after I kill you, I will remain here in New Orleans until every last person who remembers you is dead. The deeds of the mighty Klaus will be remembered by no one. And you, boy, will simply never have existed.

 

[Orchestra tuning]

Mikael : Ah!!! The grand show. Oh, I made some alterations in your honor. You'll love it.

Klaus: [voice-over from present] And what a show it was. [The curtain goes up to reveal Marcel staked in the hands to a wooden X. He is barely conscious. Lana is dead, with a stake through her chest. The audience laughs and applauds]

Klaus: [voiceover] Mikael compelled the audience to watch it all, applaud as if it were the drollest of comedies, and then to leave celebrating a terrific night at the opera. I tried to save Marcel. [Klaus try to pull the stakes from Marcel's hands but Mikael stops him] My father had other ideas. Rebekah attempted to intervene. All these years, I actually believed she was trying to save me.

[Klaus tries to attack again but Mikael throws Klaus across the stage] [voiceover] But then big brother swooped in.

Elijah: [in flashback] There's no helping Marcel.

Klaus: [voiceover] Just when we thought all was lost.

Elijah: We must run.

Klaus: [voiceover] And so I ran, beaten like the dog my father believed me to be. And as we fled for our lives, he burnt it all to the ground [Mikael put fire on the Opera House and leaves] and with it we assumed, Marcel.

 

Present, Main Street, Old Opera House

 

Klaus: I lived, but all that we had built died, as did the last shred of me that felt human. That is what my father took from me that night. I assure you, Camille, I will not terrorize my sister and her lover for centuries. Nor will I humiliate and torment or dehumanize them. No, none of that. I will simply and quickly end them. [he lets go of Cami and vamp speeds away before Cami can catch him]

Cami: Klaus, wait!

 

LaFayette Cemetery

 

Celeste: Now, you didn't have to bite me to get me here. I wanted front-row seats to this show.

Elijah: And what show would that be?

Celeste: The one where you see your "Always and Forever" pact come crashing down around you. It's a myth, Elijah, a myth I died for.

Elijah: And yet here you stand alive...For now.

Celeste: Is that a threat? Oh, there's always another pretty, young body for me to jump into. From now on, every time you feel a connection to a woman, you'll be forced to wonder if it's me. You'll trust no one and spend the rest of eternity alone. Hahaha! I'm afraid you're trapped. Boundary spell. The Originals can enter, but they can't leave.

Elijah: You wouldn't.

Celeste: I would, and I did.

 

[On the other side of the cemetery, Marcel & Rebekah have just dug up Davina; she was buried in a white cloth.]

Marcel: I got you, D. I got you. (to Rebekah)What is it?

Rebekah: It's a trap. Run. Get Davina out of here.

Marcel: I'm not leaving you behind.

Rebekah: You must.

Marcel: I will not leave you behind!!!

Rebekah: I swear I will join you. Go. Get Davina someplace safe.

Marcel: I will

 

[Celeste and Elijah are talking]

 

Celeste: Don't worry. It's a lunar spell. You'll be free by the next moonrise. My guess is, your sister won't last that long. Ah, while this body has been a hell of a lot of fun, I do think it's time I find someone else to play in, don't you?

[Celeste bends down and picks up a candle on the ground. She smashes it against a tree and picks up a shard of glass. She stabs it into Sabine's neck; coughing she falls dead to the ground.

Monique comes out of the shadows, disappointed, as she looks at Sabine's body]

Monique: You were right.

[Monique points toward the tunnels, revealing to Elijah that she had performed the spell. In the tunnel, Celeste awakens in her original body covered by a white sheet, gasping awake. She is shocked and confused.]

Elijah: Hello, Celeste.

Celeste: How is this possible?

Elijah: Monique Deveraux and I had a little wager, regarding your ability to keep a promise. It appears I won. You were so consumed... With my downfall, that you lost the trust of one of your own.

Celeste: Non. Mon cheri, non. Tout est possible. Ce n'est pas fini.

Elijah: Désolé. [Elijah stabs her in the stomach with Papa Tunde's blade, she screams and drops to the ground, dead]

 

St. Anne's Church

[Marcel put Davina on the bed and waits anxiously. Suddenly Davina awakens,

Marcel: Davina. You're ok. You're safe now. You hear me? You're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you, ok?

 

LaFayette Cemetery

[Klaus walks into the cemetery with the white oak stake, screaming]

Klaus: REBEKAH! REBEKAH! Cherish the breath in your lungs! It'll be your last.

 

Flashback, Opera House, 1919

Mikael: The final act of Le Grand Guignol is upon us! Where are my players? Enough running, children! Step out of the shadows so we can finish this tale of sorrows.

[Klaus carries Rebekah in his arms.]

Elijah: He's coming.

Klaus: All right. [he bites into his wrist and feeds Rebekah] Come on, sister.

Rebekah: Marcel.

Elijah: He's gone, sister.

Rebekah: No. No.

Elijah: Both of you must flee the city. I'll hold him off, Niklaus.

Klaus: No. We fight him together.

Elijah: We cannot fight him. All we can do is do what we've done. We deceive him. We lead him astray. Now, I can do that as well as anyone. You take her far away from here. I'll follow you.

Rebekah: No, Elijah. You can't. You can't, Elijah. This is just, this is my fault.

Klaus: No. This is my fault, Rebekah. I am so sorry. I'm sorry. Marcel [the building explodes] I thought we'd found a home here.

Elijah: Niklaus, please. Sister, come. You must leave. Go. Leave!

[Klaus disappears with Rebekah into the night]

 

Present, in Cemetery

[Elijah walks in the Cemeterry. Rebekah comes out beside him.]

Rebekah: Elijah?

Elijah: What are you doing here? Rebekah, you should be on the other side of the world by now.

Rebekah: You and I both know that wouldn't have been far enough.

Klaus: GET AWAY FROM HER! She's mine.

[His eyes turn yellow. Elijah holds Papa Tunde's blade in his hand, it shakes his teeth at Klaus as does Rebekah. Both are ready to attack]
